The Importance of Fatherhood Life Coaching

The Importance of Fatherhood Life Coaching

Destiny is not a matter of chance; it is a matter of choice. It is not a thing to be waited for; it is a thing to be achieved. William Jennings Bryan

What exactly is a Life Coach? It sounds life a mixture of psychology, philosophy and sports! It is important to know that it is not consulting, therapy, mentoring or counselling. Rather it focuses on providing the framework that supports clients, with a personal project, to allow for introspection. The Life Coach is there to help the individual to uncover the roadblocks, challenges and opportunities in the present that reveal a possible course of action for the future.

Future Fit

The great thing in the world is not so much where we stand as in what direction we are moving. Oliver Wendell Holmes

Life Coaching is all about sizing up the pressing situation in someone’s life and helping them with moving powerfully forwards. It is not about assessing past traumas, difficult childhoods or debilitating repressed memories –it’s all about choosing a plan of action to make changes in their life so they can live the life they have dreamed about. People are drawn to the benefits of having a life coach because the focus is always on the client, it’s action-orientated, future-focused and fun.

How to Listen to Yourself

Try not to become a man of success but a man of value. Albert Einstein

A Life Coach understands that the answers to every challenge a person is experiencing, lies within them. The perfect answers might just be hidden from them and the Life Coach empowers the client to have that conversation with themselves to unearth their own best interests. You are your own best expert about yourself, right? A great Life Coach helps you to hear yourself through the hum drum of every day stresses and pressures. It is all about making better choices for your life. You can reach your highest potential when your Life Coach helps you translate your deepest wants into actionable goals yielding concrete results.

Life Coaching Code of Conduct

Although the world is full of suffering, it is full also of the overcoming of it. Helen Keller

While anyone can essentially become a life coach, the International Coach Federation (ICF) and the European Mentoring and Coaching Council (EMCC) came up with a common code of conduct in July 2011 in a bid to regulate the industry in the European Union. In the US, there are not currently any laws governing the profession. There are no state or federal guidelines that you must comply with to be part of the profession.

However, you want to engage the services of a Life Coach who has been accredited through reputable organizations and holds the relevant certifications. They need to have had extensive foundation training with evidence based interventions. You are looking for the Life Coach who is not selling a complete solution where they say they can change someone’s life definitively. That’s not really Life Coaching. You want a coach who is walking alongside you in your journey to self realization who stimulates your potential. They allow you to recognize your long-buried dreams and aspirations through effective goal setting.

The Need for Fatherhood Life Coaches

The secret of achievement is to hold a picture of a successful outcome in the mind. Thoreau

With Fatherhood Life Coaching we are talking about individuals trained in being able to assist fathers with playing a positive and key role in their child’s healthy development. Fathers who are actively involved contribute to their child’s self-control, self-esteem and empathy development. The Fatherhood Life Coach help fathers with becoming active participants in their children’s lives resulting in the avoidance of negative outcomes like them getting involved in the criminal justice system. For children in the welfare system, a father’s positive involvement can result in less time in foster care, achievement of reunification and a decreased likelihood of subsequent maltreatment.

Responsible Fatherhood Practices

Never let the fear of striking out get in your way. George Herman "Babe" Ruth

In the U.S. today over 27% of children under the age of 18 live in a home without the presence of their biological fathers. Many human services agencies focus on programs for mothers and children and there are limited support resources for the father’s who truly want to “be there” for their children. This is where Fatherhood Life Coaches are filling the gap by promoting responsible fatherhood activities including responsible parenting, economic stability and healthy marriage and relationship education.

A Fatherhood Life Coach with a competency-based education credential, will inspire their clients to take more accountability in their lives by setting and achieving bigger goals for themselves regarding relationships with their children and families. The Fatherhood Life Coach has the tools and techniques to help fathers to set the right goals and structure both their personal and professional lives to achieve their dreams. Fathers who have a Life Coach offering motivation and constant support are better positioned to become present in their children’s lives for the long run.

Father Focused

Our attitude toward life determines life's attitude towards us.Earl Nightingale

Your Fatherhood Life Coach will get fathers to set and achieve goals, plan their ideal futures, break through fears, clear unnecessary clutter out of their lives, become financially self sufficient, communicate wants and needs succinctly, identify their core values, get organized, make an important life transition and live an ideal life by nurturing a relationship with their children.
