When a Dad Makes a Difference

Father & Son Finding A Cause Bigger Than Self

Fathers & Families Coalition of America would like to introduce a story of a young man who has found his purpose...

Pauly Avila has found his core as an effective young man affecting the lives of homeless in Los Angeles' infamous, Skid Row. He is healing others and challenging them to transfor their lives. Because who he is and by his father's guidance unveiling his purpose to help others through music.

What is different about this father-son agents of change?

Pauly has never seen the daylight or able to speak a word as he is a special man born severly atutistic and blind. Pauly's fathers shared, "I will never have moments to share with others my son made a three-pointer winning shot in a game of basketball but he has the homeless get up...because if Pauly can be here on the streets trying to help me... I should help me."

All the data, research, program models, leaders and others could take the story of Pauly Avila as a model of a father who serves his son and this love is transmitted to his son. A son who never has been able to see he dad's face, mother's smile or anyone else but goes to serve others through music...as an effective purpose driven young man and why should all help others fulfill their purpose...

"Having a moment... As the night comes to an end and I pray over Pauly I’m glad to see his body gets some rest as his frustrations were high tonight. I find myself just staring at him as he is asleep and wonder what he dreams of…if he’s never seen anything (being blind) before. Sometimes he gets these happy grins and I think God gives him a sneak peek into Heaven. I often feel guilty in my heart that whatever I do for him is never enough. I suppose that is pretty normal under these circumstances. I definitely have my human side and talk to God with anger. Sometimes and I ask him why he chose my son to never see or talk. I know this is all part of a big plan that God has in store for me and Pauly and one day I will find those answers. Until then I am right here by your side and I will be here to serve your needs to the best of my ability. I am blessed that you have had great health to this point and know one day one of us will have to check out of this place called earth. Whoever it shall be first I know the other will be waiting with open arms at the gates….  Life goes by like the blink of an eye and don’t worry Pauly you will finally be able to use that voice to sing with angels and see every vibrant color imaginable…I love you more than you will ever know!  Dad"(Paul Avila Sr.)
